Letter from the Editor |

Dear Colleagues,
With the holiday season in full swing, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all members and staff affiliated with the Florida Radiological Society. Despite increasing clinical commitments, your persistent engagement with our society and willingness to advocate for your patients and practices continue to inspire. To those who have donated already, thank you for your generosity in supporting the FRS Foundation and FRS PAC fundraising campaigns. |
If still considering, this is a final call for donations to the FRS Foundation to ensure the generous matching gift provided by Drs. Kurt Mori and Emile Latour ( FRS Foundation – Florida Radiological Society ). All contributions are welcomed and help ensure the wellbeing and longevity of the FRS.
The end of the calendar year can be a chaotic time in radiology practices, a final rush of patients, add-ons, and deadlines, amongst numerous responsibilities and opportunities outside of work. As you hustle through your last days of the year, please also make time to reflect and cherish moments with your colleagues, friends, and family. I wish each of you a joyful holiday season and a new year filled with continued success, good health, and renewed inspiration.

FRBMA President's Message |

Join Us at the 2026 Winter Retreat
As we look ahead to 2026, I am thrilled to invite each of you and your teams to our Florida RBMA Winter Retreat on February 5th and 6th at the Margaritaville Resort Orlando. This annual gathering has become one of the most energizing traditions for our community, and next year promises to be our most impactful retreat yet. |
Why You Should Attend
- Fresh Insights: The retreat will feature sessions designed to address the evolving challenges in radiology business management, from reimbursement strategies to operational efficiency to new PACS insights.
- Team Development: Bringing your staff along ensures they gain the same knowledge, tools, and inspiration you do. It’s an investment in their growth and in the strength of your practice.
- Networking Opportunities: Connect with peers across Florida and beyond. These relationships often spark collaborations and solutions that last long after the retreat ends.
- Renewed Energy: Stepping away from the daily grind to learn, share, and recharge together is invaluable. You’ll return with fresh ideas and a renewed sense of purpose.
A Retreat for Leaders and Teams
This isn’t just an event for managers; it’s for the entire radiology business team. Whether your staff is new to the field or seasoned professionals, they’ll benefit from the practical sessions, interactive workshops, and the chance to hear directly from industry experts.
Let’s Make 2026 Our Best Year Yet
I encourage you to mark your calendars, register early, and plan to bring your staff. Together, we’ll strengthen our practices, elevate our profession, and continue building the supportive community that makes Florida RBMA so special.
I look forward to seeing you and your teams at the 2026 Winter Retreat. Let’s learn, grow, and celebrate our shared commitment to excellence in radiology business management.

Legislative Update |
 |
Session is coming up fast. We have two more committee weeks in December before we start January 13th.
Campaigns have been very active as there are quite a few special elections coming up.
|
The general election for Senate District 11 will be held on December 9th. This was former Senator Blaise Ingoglia’s seat who is now our appointed CFO. We are supporting Dr. Ralph Massulo who is a dermatologist, MOHS surgeon, and is highly anticipated to win. He will be an excellent addition to the Florida Senate for us. So, if you are in that district, please go vote.
Also, there is a special election to fill Rep Casselo’s seat District 90 as he recently passed while in office.
Rep Mike Caruso was appointed Clerk of Court for Palm Beach County which has created an open House seat. We are supporting candidate Jon Maples for House District 57. The primary is set for January 13th and the General is March 24th.
Senator Jay Collins, District 14, was appointed to Lt Governor which has created an open Senate seat that Josie Tomkow, Health and Human Services Chair, has filed to run for. She can serve out her term this session. She faces no Primary opposition, and the General will be March 24th. We are supporting her candidacy.
Hilary Holley has filed for Rep Tomkow’s seat - District 51. We are supporting her as well. The Primary for that race will be held January 13th with the General on March 24th. These are Tampa seats.
The entire House, half the Senate, the Governor (termed out), and all the Cabinet seats are on the ballot this election cycle. It is important to note elected House and Senate members cannot fundraise during the Legislative session.
Legislatively bills are being filed and numbered as I type. I anticipate the mammography bills to be back before the legislative body this session.
The “free kill bill” has been filed and has moved rapidly through the House but to date it has no Senate companion bill. Senator Yarborough, the historic senate sponsor, has announced he does not intend to file the bill this year.
I anticipate scope expansion bills will be filed as well.

RFS |
Hello Residents and Fellows,
The holidays (and RSNA) are upon us! While it may be too late for this year’s meeting, my “gift” to you is a reminder about an opportunity for next year: the ITAR scholarship, which offers PGY-3 residents a $1,000 award to attend RSNA. Applications open in April, so keep it on your radar — many aren’t aware of it.
Another opportunity to consider is applying for the ACR RFS Executive Committee:
Each year, FRS funds one resident from every Florida program to travel to Washington, D.C. for the ACR Annual Meeting — a fantastic chance to get involved in advocacy, leadership, and national networking.
Finally, I wanted to share an Op-Ed I wrote for the ACR for R1s transitioning from intern year. It covers practical tips for navigating early radiology training and building strong foundational habits.
Read it here
Wishing all of you a restful holiday season filled with good food, good company, and (hopefully) a light call schedule. |

FACR Application |
Although there are multiple pathways to ACR Fellowship, by providing opportunities for leadership and involvement, chapters give members an opportunity for recognition as an ACR Fellow. This designation is attained by only an estimated 15 percent of radiologists that belong to the ACR and represents a significant career accomplishment. Chapters also serve as a vital link for recommendation of candidates for ACR Fellowship to the ACR Committee on Fellowship.
If you think you meet these criteria and wish to apply to become an ACR fellow with Florida chapter nomination please contact the FRS at lroger@edusymp.com. Years in training do not count as member years.
More information can be found by visiting the ACR website at: Click Here
If you are applying for Fellowship, the Final Chapter Deadline is 5:00 pm ET on May 31st. |

Become A PAC Member Today |
 |
Attention FRBMA Members! Please support the cause. We encourage you to be PAC members and supporters; you do not have to belong to the FRS. Donations can be made online through our PAC website www.FLRADPAC.org. Thank you for your donation.
It is critical that we support both our Florida PAC and RADPAC in order to bolster our voice in Tallahassee and Washington, respectively. Please join FRS lobbyist Alison Dudley in her special appeal for all Florida radiologists to become Florida PAC members. If you would like to help FRS defend radiology against untoward legislation and introduce bills that have a positive impact on our practices, we need your financial support to re-elect our friends in the state House and Senate. The FRS can also show you simplified ways on how to sign up your radiology group. Contact Lorraine Roger at lroger@flrad.org or Alison Dudley at alisondudley@dudleyandassociates.com for more information. |
