This course is designed to deliver a practical, clinically relevant review of CT imaging while emphasizing the latest technological advances. Scan protocols, imaging insights and key differential diagnostic findings, techniques, and expanded clinical applications will be highlighted throughout the program. Protocol optimization, oncological applications, cardiac imaging and lung cancer screening will be addressed. When appropriate, comparisons will be made with other imaging modalities.

This CME activity is designed to educate diagnostic imaging physicians who supervise and interpret CT studies. This CME activity should also be useful to referring physicians who order these studies so that they might gain a greater appreciation of the strengths and limitations of clinically relevant CT studies. Technologists performing CT examinations should also benefit from this course.

Attendees should, at the completion of this course, be able to:

  • Discuss the role of CT and CTA in the evaluation of kidney, liver disease and pancreatic disease.
  • Understand the expanding role of CT in oncologic imaging.
  • Describe the expanding role of CT in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal pathology.
  • Optimize pulmonary and cardiac scanning techniques and protocols.
  • Understand the current role of CT in lung cancer screening and HRCT.
  • Understand the basic principles of photon scanning and some of its clinical advantages.
  • Understand the role of CT in the evaluation of musculoskeletal pathology including trauma.
