Streamlining Diagnostics: A Genitourinary Pathology Cruise through the Norwegian Fjords

This educational activity is designed to provide a practical and up-to-date review of key diagnostic challenges and recent advances in genitourinary pathology. Through a series of focused lectures, participants will enhance their understanding of neoplastic and non-neoplastic lesions involving the prostate, urinary bladder, kidney, and testis, with an emphasis on morphologic interpretation, appropriate use of ancillary studies, grading and staging principles, and clinically relevant reporting practices.

This CME activity is primarily intended and designed to educate practicing pathologists, pathology trainees, and other clinicians with an interest in genitourinary pathology who seek to strengthen diagnostic accuracy, improve clinicopathologic correlation, and remain current with evolving classification systems and best practices in patient care.

Attendees should, at the completion of this course, be able to:

• Recognize morphologic mimickers and diagnostic pitfalls encountered in small tissue samples.
• Select and interpret targeted immunohistochemical stains to resolve challenging prostate cancer diagnoses.
• Apply current grading systems in routine pathology practice.
• Incorporate essential pathologic staging parameters into routine pathology practice.
• Recognize clinical and prognostic significance of cribriform growth patterns in prostate cancer.
• Distinguish clear cell renal tumors using morphologic and immunophenotypic features.
• Recognize the morphologic spectrum of eosinophilic (“pink”) renal neoplasms.
• Develop an appropriate differential diagnosis for diagnostically challenging testicular entities.
• Apply practical strategies and ancillary tools to improve diagnostic confidence in challenging lesions encountered in GU pathology practice.
