This course provides a practical, clinically focused review of cheat and cardiac imaging. Topics include commonly performed and interpreted exams chest radiography and CT, cardiac CT as well as some exposure to less commonly performed studies such as cardiac MRI. Attendees will have ample opportunity to test their knowledge during the comprehensive case review session. The casual atmosphere allows sufficient time for personal interaction throughout the program.

This course is designed to educate those who order, perform, and interpret chest radiography and chest and cardiac imaging. It should be particularly valuable for diagnostic imaging physicians and referring physicians who utilize thoracic imaging studies to evaluate the clinical status of their patients.

Attendees should, at the completion of this course, be able to:

  • Discuss technological advances such as iterative reconstruction and dual energy CT and how they impact thoracic imaging.
  • Describe the optimal approach to CT lung screening.
  • Review the solitary pulmonary nodule and new concepts in our understanding lung cancer.
  • Discuss the latest advances in definition and classification of idiopathic fibrosis and diffuse lung disease.
  • Describe an intuitive approach to imaging of the mediastinum, including pulmonary embolism, acute aortic syndrome and airway disease.
  • Review the remarkable advancements that occurred in cardiac imaging, with a focus on cardiac CT.
No special educational preparation is required for this CME activity.
